I hope you all had a great weekend!
Today we had a busy Monday in grade 2B! We began our day with a speaking circle (students get a chance to share about their weekends and we draw a question for the day from a bin and take turns answer the question and asking each other questions about our responses). Students to very well with this speaking circle and often look forward to it in the mornings. It is a great way to get to know each other, become comfortable speaking in front of people and a good way to practice our English speaking and conversation.
This morning we also spelling and grammar work for the week and did a review experiment about solids. Students had to create scientific drawings of a solid and use a magnifying to look at different solids up close.
In Math students were introduced to Canadian money. We learned their names and values and created an interactive tool in our Math Journals that students can refer back to and use when working with money throughout the rest of the unit.
Finally we went to the library to take out new books, and ended our day beginning a new art project that uses and distinguishes between warm and cool colours!
Due to timing, students did not complete their Agendas today and journals were not sent home. However there is still Spelling Homework due on Friday and please remember to read if you can! 10-minutes, 20-minutes, every little bit counts!
Have a good night.
