Hello Everyone,
Today students learned about adjectives (describing words) that we use in our sentences. Individually and as a class we brainstormed as many adjectives as we could for our word work center. We focused on this part of a sentence to encourage students to add more adjectives and details to their writing.
In Math we worked in our Math journals to review and create reminders for ourselves about even and odd numbers and ordinal numbers. Students add pieces to their math journals that show their understanding, as well as will help them in their future math work. Some parts of their journal are reminders or definitions of what things are (like a dictionary), and others are more interactive and allow them to use them during certain activities (like their number lines and hundreds charts).
In Science today students reviewed the characteristics of matter and were introduced to the idea that there are different states of matter (solid, liquid and gas). We were introduced to solids and some of their properties today.
In writing today students were introduced to story writing by reading 'Arthur Writes a Story'. We began by allowing students to think about and write a story about something they wanted to share or something they created using their imagination, just like Arthur did in the story.
See you all tomorrow!
Ms. Koniuch
Today's Homework:
1. Read for 20 minutes.
2. Journal: What's your favourite animal? Use adjectives (describing words) to explain it. (Students can describe there animal, what it looks like, what it can do, where it can be found and more!)
3. Spelling due Friday.
