Good Afternoon Everyone! We hope you had a great day!
Today was a very fun day in grade 2!
During Language Arts we practiced writing complete sentences with various topics that use proper capitalization and punctuation.
In Social Studies we reviewed the importance of accuracy and visuals on maps through a short activity that allowed students to identify different objects in the classroom using a map.
In Math we identified many different number patterns that we can find in a 100's chart. We found patterns using even and odd numbers, counting by 1's, 2's, 5's and 10's forwards and backwards.
Finally in Science we continued to work complete our 5 senses experiments. We had a lot of fun with these experiments the past two days!
Our focus today was on the senses of smell and taste. Students had to smell various things and describe the smell and predict what they were smelling. Students also had to taste various food and drink and describe the flavours and tastes (salty, sweet, crunchy, liquid, etc) and predict what they were tasting. These experiments helped students to isolate one sense and have a better understanding of how we use each sense differently.
Today's Homework:
1. Read for 20 minutes.
2. Journal: Free Choice (Students can write about anything they want to share! Something they did, a favourite trip, something they learned or want to learn, or anything about their likes or dislikes that they want to share.)
3. Spelling Quiz tomorrow. Spelling homework due tomorrow.
Reminder that Friday, October 24th is a PD day at CBIS, and there will be no classes.
See you all tomorrow! Don't forget to study for your spelling Quiz!
