Hello everyone,
Today was very busy in grade 2B.
This week our class received mail from Canada! Inside were letters written to our students from students in a grade 2 class in a school in British Columbia, Canada. Throughout the year students will be writing letters back and forth to our new friends in Canada. This will help us develop our writing as well as build relationships and learn about students and schools in different places. Our class was very excited to be doing this. Each student was paired with two Canadian Pen Pal students (as class sizes in Canada are larger then at CBIS). We will be mailing our letters next week!
In Math class today students continued to use Canadian coins to count and make different amounts of money.
In Science class today students compared different properties of a solid and a liquid and talked about how they were the same and how they were different.
In Social Studies students have been talking about how there are different roles and jobs within a school. For example: teachers, students, administrative staff, cafeteria staff, maintenance staff, bus drivers, etc. Today we got together with Ms. McGifford's grade 2A class and worked together in groups to create interview questions for people doing these different jobs. This Friday students will get into their interview groups and they will go meet with people in different jobs around the school, and ask them questions (that they created) about their jobs. Then they will present their findings to the group when they return. This is a good way for students to take initiative and practice their speaking, listening and presenting skills!
Finally we ended our day with some fun Daily Physical Activity (DPA) in the classroom!
Have a great evening and see you tomorrow!
Ms. Koniuch
Today's Homework:
1. Read for 20 minutes.
2. Journal: How did you find working in a group today? What did you like about it? What did you dislike?
3. Spelling due Friday.
