Good Afternoon,
Today we kept very motivated and busy to complete our outstanding projects. Students worked really hard to try and finish their Animal Classification Sort, and their illustrations for their autobiographies!
In Social Studies today we reviewed what 'needs and wants' and we were introduced to 'goods and services'. Students completed a group sorting activity and practiced identifying each of these things and explaining why it was either a good or a service. They then completed an individual follow-up activity to show their comprehension.
In Math today we continued to practice addition and subtraction. This time we used 'tens' and 'ones' houses to help us sort our numbers more easily.
In Language Arts today we wrote the next two sections of out autobiographies: When I grow up, and My favourite memory. Tomorrow we will be completing our autobiographies and put them together!
We also began to talk about biographies and how they are different from autobiographies. Students worked in pairs and as a group to read a variety of different pictures and tell the short/biography of the person in them. They had to identify the order of the story and events by using their observational and inferential skills.
See you all tomorrow!
Ms. Koniuch
Today's Homework:
1. Read for 20 minutes.
2. Journal: What is a biography? Who's biography would you like to read? Why?
( today we talked about biographies and how they are the story of a persons life. students can write about who's life story they would like to read about!)
3. Spelling QUIZ tomorrow.
Reminder: Friday, March 6th is a PD Day (Professional Development Day) and there will be NO SCHOOL for grades 1-9.
