Hello everyone,
We had a great Wednesday today!
We began our day finishing our story maps of the story 'Oliver Button is a Sissy' that we read yesterday. We then went on to review bullying, what it is, who is a bully, what we can do to stop bullying, what we should do if we see bullying or are being bullied. Students began to plan and start to work on their bullying posters. They will be given more time to work on these posters and when completed we will be hanging them up in the classroom and around CBIS for everyone to see!
In Math we focused on addends in addition and subtraction equations. Students had to apply their addition and subtraction skills to solve different parts of an equation accurately.
In Science we were introduced to the idea of classifying animals. We discussed what classifying was, and students completed a group activity to begin to create their own categories or groups to classify various animals based on their similarities.
In Language Arts we focused on making personal connections to the story that we are reading. Students made connections to the book we have focused on this week 'Oliver Button is a Sissy'. They retold their connection using the terms 'this reminds me of,' and practiced expressing this in writing and pictorially.
Finally we ended our day in the library. Students listened to a read aloud story, and then worked on some math review skills on the IXL program.
See you all tomorrow!
