Good Afternoon Everyone!
Today we began to look at the proper formation of numbers as a part of our Number Sense Math unit.
In Science class we completed a series of experiments that required us to use our 5 senses.
Our first experiment was to compare the smell, look, taste, feel and sight of sugar and salt. Based on our observations and findings we had to guess which substance was what.
Our second experiment was using the sense of hearing. We listened to a variety of different sound clips and had to practice describing the sound we heard (using adjectives) and guessing what each of the sounds is.
Our final experiment used the sense of touch. Different small items were put into balloons. Students had to feel the items through the balloons without being able to see the items. Using their touch they had to make a guess as to what each of the items was.
Finally we worked on the digraph 'ch'. Students practiced identifying and naming various things that began with the 'c' sound, the 'h' sound and the combined 'ch' sound.
Today's Homework:
1. Read for 20 minutes.
2. Journal: What are some of our classroom rules? (Students can write about rules they remember, the 3 R's and rules that we have discussed recently in class such as: keeping our hands to ourselves, speaking English and the importance of respect, honesty and being kind to others.)
3. Spelling due Friday.
See you all tomorrow! :) Ms. Koniuch
