Hello everyone!
Today we kept very busy!
We began our day reviewing our Social Studies units on Landforms, and our Science unit on Matter.
Today was a special day for Canada, as Team Canada was playing Russia in the International Ice Hockey Federations, World Junior Tournament! During our snack time students got to watch a brief 10 minutes of the hockey game to see the atmosphere and learn a bit about the game! They will be learning how to play ball hockey in physical education later on this year! They were very excited to see the game being played live!
Along with Mandarin and Art Enrichment class we also continued to work on our addition and subtraction with a focus on the numbers 3 and 10 today! Students are practicing their basic addition and subtraction problems, solving problems containing brackets and also creating various stories/equations using a variety of different number combinations!
After lunch we had a short silent reading period time, and then had a read aloud with the book 'Oliver Button Is a Sissy'. After our read aloud students completed a story map to practice retelling the story. This story was chosen this week to remind students as we are getting back into our school routine of the importance of using nice words and actions with each other, what bullying is, and how we can act to stop it! We will be continuing to discuss these things throughout the rest of this week.
Finally we ended our day in the gym for physical education!
