Hello everyone,
It was another busy Tuesday in grade 2B!
In Math today we began to work with doubles and doubles plus one. This is to help students recognize patterns when adding the same numbers together or adding and subtracting with the same number. We looked at various partners, creating different stories/equations with the same number and counting using the patterns we found.
In Language Arts today we read chapter 6 of our novel. In chapter 6, Elmer is close to getting caught by the wild boars! He then meets a rhinoceros who is mad at him for drinking his water. Elmer finds out that the rhinoceros is very sad because his tusk has changed from a beautiful white colour to a yucky yellow colour. Elmer decides to help the rhinoceros by giving him a gift from hiss backpack. He gives him a toothbrush and toothpaste to clean his tusk! This distracts the rhinoceros so Elmer can get away!
Students completed a follow up activity to show their understanding of what Elmer had done in the chapter.
We also began this weeks writing project. Today the students began to brainstorm how they think the rest of our novel study book will play out. What they think will happen, how Elmer will rescue the dragon, what the dragon and Elmer will do afterwards and more! Students will be writing the rest of the story as they think it will happen this week!
Finally we ended our day in the gym practicing our floor hockey skills!
