Today we kept very busy!
In between Mandarin and Art enrichment class, students completed their 'Friendship Pie' recipes that we had started. They outlined the ingredients that should be a part of a healthy and positive friendship and adding these ingredients into a delicious friendship pie recipe!
In Language Arts we read chapter 3 of our novel and discussed the items Elmer used from his backpack, what he used them for and we talked about various challenges or problems that Elmer ran into while crossing over to Wild Island. Students completed various questions both written and pictorially to show their understanding and identify the solutions to some of Elmer's problems.
In Math we continued to practice our addition and subtraction in various ways. As students become more and more confident with solving these problems we begin to look at problems written differently and solving them using different combinations of numbers. Today students practiced creating their own equations when only given the solution.
Finally we ended our day with a catch-up period as many classmates had some trouble completing work today and were too distracted that we needed some extra time to finish. We then participated in Just Dance for some Daily Physical Activity (DPA).
As we are getting back into our school routine after the Christmas break we have been really working on reviewing our school rules and how we should be treating friends! If you could review with your child the importance of speaking English only, and being respectful to all friends and including everyone it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Today's Homework:
1. Read for 20 minutes.
2. Journal: Elmer used 3 items from his backpack already. What do you think he will use the other items for?
3. Spelling due Friday.
