Hello everyone,
I hope you all had a great Tuesday. In grade 2B today we kept busy with both Mandarin, Art Enrichment class and Music to practice performing our songs for the upcoming Christmas concert.
In Math we began to make our place value interactive materials for our math journals. These consist of various base ten blocks and folder pockets that allow students to place the numbers in the correct place value, as well as use the actual cutouts of the base ten blocks to create various numbers.
In Science students completed a sorting and grouping activity to practice identifying various items that are either solids, liquids or gases.
Lately in grade two there have been a lot of problems with bullying. Students saying and doing hurtful things to each other and lots of friends with hurt feelings or coming back to class after free time upset because of a bullying incident.
Today in Social Studies we began to talk about bullying. We had a discussion and watched a brain pop video about what bullying is, different forms and examples of it and how we should deal with it. Together and independently students brainstormed ideas of how we can deal with and stop bullying. Students created comics about a bullying situation and how it did or should play out. We will be continuing to work on positive relationships and bulling in Health throughout the next couple weeks.
See you all tomorrow!
