Today kept very busy with Mandarin, Art Enrichment, Physical Education at the playground and practicing for the Christmas concert with grade 2A class.
In language arts we focused on learning about verbs (action words). We brainstormed various verbs that we can use in our writing and at our word work centers during daily 5. We also read the story "I love you stinky face" and practiced using and listening to our thinking voices while reading. We then did a follow up activity to discuss what we were using our thinking voice to think about during the story. We use the phrase: "This reminds me of..."
In Math students used the base ten blocks to practice showing numbers in their expanded forms. Students have been doing very well with place value so far! They seem to really enjoy working with the base ten blocks!
We have had a challenging week in our classroom with many students using unkind words or doing unkind things to each other. It is very important to remember how powerful our actions and words can be and how they can make other people feel. I challenge our grade 2B students to think about how their words and actions might make a person feel before doing or saying those things!
Have a good night everyone!
