Hello everyone,
Today we had a great day in grade 2B!
In Social Studies we introduced Canada! We started our KWL chart about what we already know about Canada and what we want to learn about Canada! Students began to identify and colour certain provinces of Canada. When we complete each province they will be able to cut them all out and put all of the pieces/provinces together to form Canada (just like a puzzle)!
In Langauge Arts today we continued to work on our non-fiction flip books that go through the various parts of a non-fiction book and how they help us learn and better read the book. We have talked about and searched for: table of contents, headings, glossary, index, pictures, illustrations, graphs and charts, diagrams, maps, different types of text (bold, italic, font size and colour and style) and more!
We also reviewed our chapter 1 of The Mouse and the Motorcycle. we reviewed details of the story and continued to finish our chapter comprehension and critical thinking package.
Also we continued on with our novel study. I can not stress enough how useful it is for the students to have their own copy of the book to follow along with while we are reading and use to go back and ensure understanding, as well as use it as a tool while working on their comprehension questions and work!
