Happy Monday!
Today we were very busy. We worked on different suffixes and long and short vowels in our spelling work booklets for the week. We practiced our journal writing about our weekends in our Word work books and continued to identify the components of a story during Daily 5 time. We also went to the library to choose new Just Right books for reading this week.
In Math we began our new unit 'Number Sense.' We practiced counting using different multiples (1s, 2s, 3s, 5s, and 10s). We will continue to practice counting by various multiples, proper number formation and soon we will be introduced to number lines.
In Social Studies we began to look at maps. We discussed what they are, why we use them, where we see them in our daily lives, and we did an activity to help us see the different characteristics of maps that help us to use them more easily (colour, shape, direction, size, etc).
Today's Homework:
1. Read for 20 minutes.
2. Journal: What are maps? (Students can write about what maps are for, where we can find them, what makes maps easy to read, and more!)
3. Spelling due Friday.
*NOTE: I will be including the students Agenda and Homework in the daily blog post from now on to make the process of checking the blog faster and easier! Thanks! ^^
See you tomorrow!
