Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed the sunshine!
We began our Monday introducing our new spelling words for this week.
In Math we continued to practice addition with 2-digit numbers. Students also began to put their thinking into words (verbally and written). They explain the steps they took to solve a problem. We will be continuing to work on this throughout our number sense unit.
In Social Studies we introduced types of communities: urban, suburban and rural. Students watched a short video that showed the differences between the three and we discussed various things that we might see if we drove through these communities.
In Science we learned about hibernation. We learned about what it was, which animals do it, where they do it and why they do it!
In Language Arts we continued to talk about biographies. Today we read about Robert Munsch. In his biography we learned about things he liked and how he came to be a published story writer. We also practiced identifying ways that the author added order and sequence to the story and what words they used to do this. Students were then given different events from Robert's biography and practiced putting them in the correct order based on what they remember from reading and the language used.
Also a very Happy Birthday to Tommy! Thank-you for letting us celebrate your birthday with you! We hope you have fun! ^^
