Welcome back everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your Spring Break!
Today we welcomed each other back and shared our stories about all of the trips and exciting things that we did over our week off!
We then began to get back into our Monday routine and introduced our new spelling words for the week, and completed our spelling work booklets.
In Math we reviewed addition with double digit numbers as well as reviewed grouping. Students used Canadian coins (money) and bundles of sticks to group and re-group them in order to form different amounts. This was a little bit difficult for them, however we will continue to practice.
In Social Studies we continued to work on our urban, suburban and rural communities flip books. These projects are due on Friday. Students will be given some time to complete in class (if it is not complete by Thursday it will be sent home as homework to return on Friday).
In Language Arts we continued to read more biographies and practice recount. Today we read the story of Rob Stewart who loved sharks and made a movie to help save them! We analyzed the story title, photos and discussed what we read to help us later practice to recount the events of the story of Rob's life.
Finally we visited the library to exchange our books and choose new reading material for the week ahead!
This afternoon we also began our group art project for Fine and Performing Arts Month at CBIS. We will be creating the piece 'Cafe Terrace at Night' by Vincent Van Gogh and it will be on display by the end of the week!
See you all tomorrow.
