Good afternoon everyone! I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend!
Today we began our day with a speaking circle and sharing things we had done over the weekend with each other. We then moved on to Spelling. Introducing our new spelling words and completing various activities to practice using them in sentences, finding rhyming words, completing proper spelling of various words and more.
In Math we carried on to work with adding with the numbers 8 and 9. The next part of their number sense unit gets them to start to think about their thinking process in solving these number problems. How do they use simple addition and subtraction to solve the equations in their head.
In Science we began to read about fish! Students began to take out the important information from the text independently. They began with highlighting what they though to be important, then going back through the text and removing the information that they needed to fill out the information sheet about fish. They are becoming more confident finding the important information on their own!
Finally we went to the library today for students to exchange their books!
See you all tomorrow! Ms, Koniuch
Today's Homework:
1. Read for 20 minutes.
2. Journal: What did you learn about fish today?
3. Spelling due Friday.
4. BRING IN INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR FAMILY HISTORY by Friday! (What was their job, were did they live, what was different about them, what did they wear, what did they look like). Write these things in your journal or a separate paper and bring it back to school on Friday!
