Hello everyone, I hope you all enjoyed the weekend!
Today we began our Monday morning with our new spelling words and work booklets. We then moved on to complete our 'Elmer's backpack' activity so we could use them while continuing to read our novel tomorrow!
In Math we continued to use our developing addition and subtraction skills to work with the numbers 12, 13 and 14. Students began to use pictures and words to describe HOW they are solving for each question.
In Social Studies we introduced our new unit 'Communities.' We brainstormed what we thought a community was and all of the different things that make up a community. We started to look at how different communities have different things in them and that these things can be natural land forms or infrastructure and man-made things.
In Science we began our 'Birds' section. Students read information about birds and we used our highlighters to show what information in our booklets we thought was important. Tomorrow students will be using this information to answer questions and fill in categories about 'birds' and determine which information was actually important and we used and which we did not.
Finally we completed our day choosing new books in the library and with ACA!
See you all tomorrow!
Ms. Koniuch
