Happy Friday everyone!
We kept very busy today! Students completed their first Spelling Quiz of 2015. They also worked on completing their bullying posters that we have been working on creating since before the break. These posters will soon be hung up all around our school to teach others about bullying and how to stop it!
In Math we also continued to practice our addition and subtraction with the numbers 11 and 12. They also completed their first 'Speed Sheet.' Speed sheets are worksheets with different addition and subtraction problems presented in various ways. Students are given 2 minutes to answer as many questions ACCURATELY as they can. This test is not about completing the entire worksheet the first time, it is about getting students to focus on getting correct answers, and as we continue to practice they will become faster and faster at getting the correct answers.
In Science today we introduced warm and cold blooded animals. Students discussed what type of animals were warm blooded and which were cold blooded. We then began an activity to create our own flip-books to show warm and cold blooded animals and how each keeps warm and cools down. For example: humans are a warm blooded animal, to keep warm we shiver and get goosebumps, to cool down we sweat and take deep breaths.
We ended our day with physical education and then headed down to the auditorium for our music assembly! Students sang various songs, some with actions!
I hope you all have a great weekend! See you on Monday!
