The last day of grade 2 ... WOW! I can not believe that it is already the end of this year. I just want to say to all grade 2B students, you are all such special people! I feel very proud to say that I had the honour of teaching you this year. Each of you is so special in your own way and has worked so hard to learn as much as you can this year. I am very thankful to have had such wonderful students! I hope that all of you continue to try your best in all that you do and I wish you all the best of luck in grade 3! Today we had our Talent Show! All students did a great job! Some pictures will follow in the next couple days! Today we also had Mandarin, Art Enrichment class and began to work on our world maps. We discussed the continents of the world, where they are located and the four oceans that surround them! Today we worked on completing our chapter 11 comprehension work for The Mouse and the Motorcycle. Students also worked on a text-to-self and text-to-text activity where they have to relate parts of the story to things in their lives and other stories or books they have read. In Math we continued to look at making graphs using information given to us. Students also practiced asking questions about the graphs, answering them and determining what graphs can tell us. This afternoon we spent some time in the library reading various stories, and we talked about the next step in the water cycle and discussed precipitation. See you all tomorrow! We had a great day and week in grade 2B! With only a few more days of school left students will be sent home with all of their work, portfolios, contents of their cubbies and other items they may have left behind! Today we had an awesome day in grade 2B! This morning we completed our language arts lesson on chapter 10 of The Mouse and the Motorcycle and created a venn diagram to compare and contrast the two main characters, Ralph and Keith. This morning we also spent some time to write our final letters back to our pen pals as we recieved our letters in the mail yesterday! In Math we continued to gather information and put it into a chart and graph form. Studenst gathered information about their favourite snack foods and their favourite colours and then analyzed their graphs and compared them to their classmattes. In Science we introduced the water cycle and the first step in the water cycle which is evaportation. Tomorrow we will be looking at step 2: condensation. Finally we ended our day with a very special pizza party to say goodbye to Kevin who is leaving for a trip to America for the summer vacation! Today we had a great Monday in our Pajamas all day long! We also had a very busy day making up for some lost time. This morning students were introduced and completed their last set of spelling words and work books. In Math we were introduced to sorting, graphing and anayzing various groups of information. In Language Arts we read chapter 9 of The Mouse and the Motorcycle and worked on completing the comprehension questions and activites. In Social Studies we reviewed the provinces and territories of Canada and talked about the bodies of water that are located around Canada. We spent this morning doing some review work on different 2-D and 3-D shapes and their attributes, and completing our Chapter 8 of our Mouse and the Motorcycle novel study work. Students also completed their province and territory projects today! They look great! This afternoon students attended a group movie in the auditorium and had dance and drama to end the day. On Monday we will resume teaching new material in class for the duration of our school year. Have a great weekend and see you all on Monday! Ms. Koniuch There is no homework this weekend.
